    Rutland 913 Marine Windcharger

The Rutland 913 is designed for marine use on board coastal and ocean going yachts usually over 10m in length. This unit will generate enough power to serve both domestic and engine batteries on board and the RWS200 Controller is available for dual battery charging.

12 Volt or 24 Volt

The Rutland 913 is designed for quiet and powerful operation on board coastal and ocean going yachts usually 10m and above in length. This unit will generate enough power to serve both domestic and engine batteries on board in most cases and places around the world and users can at minimum expect to reduce engine running time for battery charging.

The Rutland 913 is a popular sight in marinas, thousands are in use worldwide, boat owners like it’s clean, aerodynamic lines and its quiet and continuous operation. Without doubt the Rutland 913 marine model accumulates more energy than any other comparable wind generator available.
Features
· Quiet in operation – every turbine is finely balanced to ensure smooth rotation
· Low friction flywheel effect generator just keeps on turning when other wind generators stall
· Low wind speed start up of just 5 knots
· Generates 90w @ 19 knots, 24w @ 10 knots, delivers up to 250w
· One way only fit fine profile efficient aerofoil blades are unique in the industry
· Three phase Rutland “unique” generator design
· Latest product improvement! - The “post adapter” (the spigot that slots into the pole) is now distinctively blue anodised to prevent oxidisation with the pole.
· Sealed for life bearings
· Brushless alternator with fixed shaft requires no maintenance
· The alternator’s windings and magnets are encapsulated in glass fibre.
· Built in slipring & low wear brushes give the unit complete 360º free rotation on the mounting pole.
· Automatic thermostat protection in prolonged gales
· Modern, durable materials for reliability on the high seas
· No radiated interference - complies with EEC Directive BS EN 89/336/EEC
· Available in 12V or 24V as standard

      HRSi controller

  • HRSi voltage controller/regulator for the Rutland 913 & Rutland FM910-3
  • now allows up to 160W of solar PV panels in a single, easy-to-install device.
  • Note: solar panels must be fitted with diodes.
  • Has PWM (pulse width modulation) to prevent battery overcharge. As peak voltages are reached the HRSi tapers the input charge from the wind and solar chargers, gradually reducing input to float stage level in the batteries. This feature gradually reduces the speed of the turbine to an eventual ''idle'' thus extending the working life of the windcharger. As the battery discharges the wind turbine responds by increasing speed to deliver more power. Solar power is also tapered in the same way.
  • LED indicators keep the user informed about battery charging levels and charging status.
  • Manual shutdown switch allows the user to stop the wind and solar chargers from delivering power to the battery if required.
  • Automatic voltage detection 12 or 24V. Note : batteries must be connected first for auto-detection.
  • Built-in charge fuse protects the wiring circuit in the event of accidental reverse polarity connection.

   HRDX regulator.

Charge splitter for 2 battery banks.

  State 12 or 24V

   Price : £ 149.00

Incorporates regulator and selectable LCD display.

Solar panel input up to 100W (Schottky diode required)
Prevent battery overcharge.
Fit between the Windcharger / solar and battery.
All models are diode protected to allow charging from other sources to the same battery.

Batteries
We recommend deep cycle lead acid batteries, sealed or non-sealed.

Cable
Cable thickness depends on the overall length used between the windcharger and regulator/battery. For distances up to 20m a cable thickness of 2.5mm is recommended. The regulator should always be positioned within a 1.5m cable run from the battery to minimise voltage losses and ensure accuracy of voltage regulation

Mounting pole for on-board systems

Rutland 913 Windcharger
Marlec’s 913 Marine Mounting Kit is manufactured from stainless steel and is supplied in 2 x 1.2m sections that join. Deck fixing L shaped plates are supplied along with brackets to which guys or stays should be attached. Solid stays are recommended to provide a suitably rigid mount for the windcharger.

A pole can be constructed for deck fixing using a continuous length of the tube, a minimum 2.5m length is recommended. Note that the mounting tube dimensions must be 41mm internal diameter and no more than 48mm outer diameter. Also available are single 1200mm and 600mm tube sections for the user to adapt to their own mounting design.

Mounting pole for land based systems

Rutland 913 and Furlmatic 910-3 Windcharger
The Rutland 913 may be used for temporary installation on land, for example on touring caravans, rv’s or summer season installed static caravans. For permanent installations the Rutland Furlmatic 910-3 model is recommended.
The FM910-3 may be used for permanent or temporary installation on land. It is not suitable for use on unstable platforms, eg floating buoys as the furling mechanism is affected by rolling motion. Stable platforms eg, oil rigs, are suitable.

The Rutland 910 series Land Tower Kit and Rigging Kit provides a 6m total height tower supplied in 3 sections with joiners. A pole ground-spike is supplied and 4 anchors for the 8guy ropes, turnbuckles, etc are also supplied. This tower pivots for easy installation and lowering and is for permanent installation! A tower can be constructed using a pole of minimum height 6m with an internal diameter of 41mm. Guy ropes or supports should always be used to ensure the tower is rigid. The final height of the turbine should be determined by the site and is discussed in the installation manuals provided.
