Mastervolt's three-step charging method guarantees optimum efficiency, meaning your batteries will perform better and last much longer. Besides the fast and complete charging of batteries up to 150 Ah (12V) (recommended), this battery charger also functions as a supply unit when the input voltage is low, automatically making up the full capacity in the 12V circuit. Its direct current outlet is so 'clean' that the battery charger itself can be used as direct power source, even without a battery.

The high-frequency switch-mode technology, in which advanced microprocessors combine a myriad of functions, causes an extremely accurate charge characteristic. Furthermore, this IVO Smart battery charger has an unique 'memory function' which prevents the charger starting a new three-stage charge cycle if the supply voltage is interrupted. The model, also for use outdoors or in humid areas, is equipped with an LED status indicator displaying the stage of the three-stage charge cycle. All in all it gives you the power to be independent!

Mastervolt battery chargers automatically adjust to the prevailing conditions: in winter the charger will switch itself to the float charge mode, keeping the batteries in top condition. When there is little time available for recharging, the Mastervolt charger quickly switches itself to the BULK stage, using full current; even when there is growing resistance in the battery the charge current remains constantly high. Result: a fully charged battery in the shortest possible time!

With a Mastervolt battery charger you won’t need to keep replacing old batteries with new ones. The Mastervolt charge system guarantees a longer life for maintenance-free sealed batteries as well as the open lead type. The battery’s capacity is used much more efficiently as sulphation (i.e. hardening) of the battery plates, which causes capacity loss, is kept to a minimum. Your battery will just keep on going.

Smart battery chargers are delivered standard with a temperature sensor, including adhesive pad for attachment to the battery and 6-metre cable with telejack plug for connecting to charger, 1.50m long 3-wired cable for 230V connection (117V model fitted with US plug), four solid synthetic mounting brackets with stainless steel clamp bolts, and a manual in seven languages (Dutch, German, English, Greek, French, Italian, Spanish).
 

All Smart battery chargers contain an auto-ranging circuit, which means the charger can be connected to a 110V/60Hz or a 230V/50Hz grid, as well as to a generator. The cos phi 1 control (or unity power factor) results in an extremely low consumption, using 40% less shore or generator current, so the battery charger is not affected by voltage dips (to 190V, for instance) or by the more unstable, non-sine wave voltage supplied by a petrol generator.

Mastervolt’s Smart and Mass battery chargers are standard fitted with automatic temperature compensation to eliminate any danger of explosive oxyhydrogen formation. If the batteries are placed in a hot engine room, for example, and the temperature starts rising around them, the charge voltage is automatically reduced. If the batteries’ temperature remains permanently high, for example in the engine room, the charger automatically switches to a nominal voltage. The temperature sensor, which is supplied as standard with all Mastervolt chargers, has to be attached to the top or side of the main (=hottest) battery. Smart battery chargers have a built-in autoranging function which allows connection to any electricity system in the world. The electricity grid in the Caribbean is usually 110V/60Hz, which is also the standard voltage used in the United States. Countries like Japan have a different grid voltage (100V/50Hz). Smart chargers, which can be connected to any voltage ranging between 90V and 265V and can operate at 50 as well as 60Hz, are ideal for a round-the-world cruise.
